Who is hourly care for?

Hourly care is for anyone who wishes to remain independent in their own home, but requires some support to do so.

It may be that you have lost confidence following a slip, trip or fall or you need extra support after a period in hospital. Perhaps your self care needs have increased and you would like a little more support on a regular basis. Whatever your need, the extra help our Home Care Workers can provide can make all the difference at home.

We understand that sometimes asking for help can be a difficult decision.  With Calon Lan, hourly care can start from as little as 30 minutes a day.  We believe in offering a highly consistent, person centred service through a small team of Care Workers so relationships can be built properly.

For personal care needs

Many of the people we care for need a little support with personal care.  From the reassurance that someone is with you through to full personal care, whatever your need – we can help.

We can be there to encourage, prompt and remind you about the things you can still do and want to do for yourself whilst being able to provide full support for the things you can no longer manage. We can support with washing, dressing, continence care, bathing, showering and personal appearance – whatever you need in order to feel good about yourself.

At Calon Lan, we will always try to do things your way,  providing the flexibility of visits from 30 minutes a day or even full-time live-in support.  Our services are tailored to your ongoing needs, so if you’re feeling well we can reduce the support or likewaise, if you find you’re struggling we can increase our involvment.

Care in the home for preventing falls

We believe that prevention is better than cure. Many of our Clients are concerned about falling and often this is the cause of great anxiety for them and their families, especially when they live alone.

Having an hourly care worker popping in day or night is often enough to provide reassurance and of course during their visit they can assist with other aspects of daily living that if you undertook them yourself may make you more vulnerable to a slip, trip or fall.

Having a care worker visit also means that if you had fallen we  would be able to raise the alarm get immediate medical help.

Falls are a major concern because of the implications and long term damage they can have, especially to someone who is already frail. Age UK, the nation’s champions for older people, run an annual campaign to raise awareness about falls. They say, “A fall can destroy confidence, increase isolation and reduce independence.”
